Divorce and Family Law Attorneys
Rachel S. Cotrino, Esquire
Attorney Rachel Cotrino began her legal career as a student at Vermont Law School where she graduated with her Juris Doctor in 2007. That same year she worked as a Law Clerk to the Honorable James Blaney, in the Superior Court of Ocean County. It was here that she had the chance to provide her services to prepare tentative decisions and orders regarding issues of visitation, custody and child support. She was also able to mediate disputes that took place in the Special Civil Part of the court, allowing her to develop skills that she still uses today, including negotiations and mediation.
During her time in legal practice she has continued to dive deeper and deeper into her field, enhancing her knowledge and experience in the topic. She currently resides in Ocean County, New Jersey where she serves those in Ocean, Monmouth, Mercer, Middlesex and Burlington Counties with the divorce related situations. She puts her focus on family law, allowing her to strive to be the best at what she does, rather than attempting to cover too many areas like countless attorneys do. She is very familiar with matters of divorce, child custody, spousal support, property division, domestic violence, adoptions and more.
Attorney Cotrino opened her own practice in 2011 which she has devoted exclusively to matrimonial issues. Her lengthy time in these cases has allowed her to see all sides of a case. She has witnessed first-hand the urgency in these cases, as well as how personal they can be. To her, it is the client that she puts her attention on and she seeks to get to know them and then pursue a solution that can work in their favor. Each case is unique and she believes that service should be tailor made to fit the particular details of each client's situation.
Attorney Cotrino is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, Ocean County Bar Association - Family Law Committee member, a Panel Chair on the New Jersery Supreme Court Office on Attorney Ethics, Fee Arbitration Committee in District IIIA, she is a Mandatory Early Settlement Panelist in Ocean County, New Jersey helping litigants to resolve their differences to finalize a divorce and she is also a volunteer attorney for both the South Jersey Legal Services Private Attorney Involvement Program, a legal program for low income individuals who are unable to afford divorce, and Unchained At Last, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping women and girls leave or avoid arranged/forced marriage.
Many family cases are based off of personal and financial matters and she looks to become thoroughly acquainted with these details of her clients relationship early on. Since divorce can be largely based on these categories, having this foundation from the beginning can allow her to move forward in a more effective manner. In cases such as these it is beneficial to have a lawyer that is not only knowledgeable and experienced, but also sensitive and compassionate to these matters that can often times be trying to address. She looks out for clients at the time of the divorce, along with considering the later ramifications. She looks to find an outcome that works for them in the long run, and when clients are too distraught to address this she can be a strong support system. Call the office for a consultation from an adept lawyer to learn the ways they can work along with you.
